Exactly who are you and what makes you qualified?
I’m Erika Blair-a former teacher and school counselor. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Abilene Christian University and my Masters of Arts in Professional Counseling from Texas State University. I’m an LPC-Intern supervised by Cristy Ragland, LPC-S, LMFT-S
I have extensive professional experience working with kids of all ages including work with foster kids in an in-patient treatment center, teenagers in Thailand, and elementary-aged kids in the States and Mexico. I love working with kids and teens and helping families heal through communication and trust-building.
Some of my greatest learning experiences are those I learned as a kid and teen. I needed help and didn’t know how to ask for it. I’m so grateful to have had opportunities to grow from those experiences and hopefully live an adult life that is full of healing and repair. I am a wife, biological parent, and foster parent.
My hope is to create a judgement-free, respectful, and collaborative relationship with my clients that allows them to process and heal through life’s challenges. I will listen in a judgement-free zone, pass along compassion, insight, and skills, and help you sort through confusing emotions and experiences. I believe that hurts happen in relationships and therefore healing happens in relationships. I hope to be one of those healing relationships. I promise to be real, truthful, and compassionate.
Faith and following Christ is an important and foundational part of my life. I believe that healing and freedom occur in the context of God’s care. I realize, however, that religion can often be a painful part of people’s lives. My hope is to demonstrate God’s love to all my clients and not impose my faith on the counseling process.
Your story is important. It’s important to me. It’s important to the world. I’m here to listen when you are ready to share.
