Hi! I’m Erika.

Below are a few of the most common questions folks ask about me.

I work with kids and teens ages 5 and up and the adults in their life.

I also love the opportunity to work with adults!

What do you help with?

I help clients process through difficult emotions and experiences using developmentally appropriate techniques in order to help clients gain awareness, communication and coping skills, as well as help them meet personal goals. I help kids and parents communicate and understand each other in a way that beneficial to all.

My specializations include: working with kids and teens, loss, trauma, attachment needs, faith and spirituality, identity and self-worth, parenting

Do you have evening or weekend hours?

I offer late afternoon/evening hours at least twice a week and on most Saturdays.  Once you’re my client, you’ll have access to a portal where you’ll schedule your own appointments.

What’s your cost?

I understand on a personal level that paying for counseling is a sacrifice. I also fully believe it’s an investment. Insight, growth, and healing are priceless as we move through life.

Do you take insurance?

At this time, I do not take insurance.

Exactly who are you and what makes you qualified?

I’m Erika-a former teacher and school counselor. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Abilene Christian University and my Masters of Arts in Professional Counseling from Texas State University. I have lots and lots of professional experience working with kids of all ages some of those experiences include working with foster kids in an in-patient treatment center, teenagers in Thailand, and elementary-aged kids in the States and Mexico. I love working with kids and teens but am also super passionate about helping the family heal through communication and trust-building.

Some of my greatest learning experiences, however, are those I learned as a kid and teen. I needed help and didn’t know how to ask for it. I’m so grateful to have had opportunities to grow from those experiences and hopefully live an adult life that is full of healing and repair. I am a wife, biological parent, and foster parent.

My hope is to create a judgement-free, respectful, and collaborative relationship with my clients that allows them to process and heal through life’s challenges. I will listen in a judgement-free zone, pass along compassion, insight, and skills, and help you sort through confusing emotions and experiences.  I believe that hurts happen in relationships and therefore healing happens in relationships. I hope to be one of those healing relationships. I promise to be real, truthful, and compassionate.

Faith and following Christ is an important and foundational part of my life. I believe that healing and freedom occur in the context of God’s care. I realize, however, that religion can often be a painful part of people’s lives. My hope is to demonstrate God’s love to all my clients and not impose my faith on the counseling process.

Your story is important. It’s important to me. It’s important to the world. I’m here to listen when you are ready to share.
